The London Negroni

Ingredients

“This is really a fine invention. It has the power, rare with drinks and indeed with anything else, of cheering you up.”

— Kingsley Amis. Author & Grump

Method

Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, and stir until perfectly chilled

Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice

Squeeze orange peel over the glass to release its oils and then place on the rim

Or simply drop in an orange segment in and stir a little.

Recipe note

Through time the Negroni has gone through many riffs and incarnations (Indeed originally the Negroni itself was a riff on an Americano - whereby Count Negroni asked a barman to add Dry London gin after his return from the Old Smoke!)
Yet 3 ingredient classics are classics for a reason and should be left to grow old gracefully. Like growing old, ingredients stay the same, but some fade and some may strengthen. For our version, we double the measure of No.2 Camille’s Red (as it is less sugared than an old school Torino vermouth) and then halve the Campari for balance.
